My Story
*A Twist of British*

Born in Gloucester, England, in 1956, on the mouth of the river seven, I played in the forest of Dean...

My Grandad had a horse and Cart selling Fruit and Veges, my Dad followed in his footsteps selling his wares from a bus and also a shop...

My Mum passed away when I was only 6 years old, I was always the youngest of the family.

I remember how much I used to love listening to the Jazz band in the park in Gloucester, I think that's really where this all started...

In 1966 we Left for Australia, I was just 10. A few years later, around 13,  I left home and struck out on my own.

I guess because of my upbringing I prefered the Gypsy lifestyle, with having no fixed abode and trading my way around from place to place to make ends meet.

I moved to New Zealand in 1976 to make a fresh start, age 20....several years later, I married, But lost my first wife to cancer which was devastating.

I managed to fall  in love again with another Maori woman and we had 3 beautiful children together, But alas, we were destined to part.

After becoming a Solo Dad, I felt inspired by poverty and loss to write, and dreamt of becoming a singer/song writer like my mentors, the artists I had grown up listening to, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, and Neil Young, I Dont like Grunge, Punk or Funk.

As fate would have it, I enrolled for a "be your own boss" course to develop my window cleaning business....

there I was asked, " What is it that you really want to do Paul?"  And I said I'd really love to produce a music album that might help people in a positive way to get through life... He said then why dont you, and I replied I just might...

At a small country music club in Pukimiro, in 1986, with an old acoustic guitar that I'd been given, I played and sung a song I had written winning some studio time to work with Leam Ryan.

This lead to my first recorded song  which was "Good Luck Baby"

At the time my boys Luke & John were around 2 or 3 years old, they slept in the corner of the studio.

Since then I've been passionately producing original New Zealand Music for over 35 years.

Many of my songs were created Spontaneously in the Moment with the talented help of my dearest friend and most encouraging &  inspirational Mentor Tim Armstrong.

Each song captures an "Attitude of Time" with a strong "Kiwi Flavour" with just a "Twist of British"

They explore Poverty, People, Crazy Situations, Making a Quid, Gamblers, Gossipping, Protesting, Earthquakes,

Memories, Faith and surviving the challenges of Day to day Life, All whilst striving to maintain a positive Attitude.and keeping a sense of Humour.

My message is simple, Life has no remote, Stop moaning, Give thanks for what you have, stay positive, keep smiling

and just get out there and just do it....
